The Environmental Leadership and Training Initiative (ELTI) is a joint project between the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. ELTI was created to empower and garner support from key environmental actors in Latin America and Asia to significantly strengthen and advance biodiversity conservation in tropical forest regions. The main component of ELTI’s work is training courses offered to policy makers and practitioners in these regions, with an additional component of a post-course leadership program designed to provide participants with the opportunity to strengthen their understanding of and/or improve their capacity to address specific threats to biodiversity in forested regions.
